An accident closed the westbound lane of Jefferson Road yesterday (Saturday) evening. According to police, a “45 year old Brooklyn resident, driving a 2007 Dodge Van, was eastbound on Jefferson Road near Lakeview when she crossed the center line and struck the front of a westbound vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet.”
Columbia Township Police Chief David Elwell adds the “45 year-old at-fault driver was arreste for OWI” (operating while intoxicated). There were two occupants in the 2009 Chevrolet, both Leoni Township residents. The 65 and 55 year-old occupants were transported to Henry Ford Allegiance for non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident occurred at 5:56 pm. During the period when the westbound lane was shutdown, traffic was rerouted north on Eagle Point, then left on Lakeview West, and south to Jefferson Road. The normal traffic pattern resumed at 7:23 pm.
