With the temperature reaching 58 degrees, there is less ice and more open water today (Saturday, Feb 20). One observer estimated that about half of the ice is gone. Bill Leutz reports that high winds helped–gusts to 60 mph yesterday and 40 mph today, although as of early afternoon, the ice did not appear moving.
