Today is the Day. It happens each year around the 1st of October. The seasons are changing from summer to winter with times in between called spring and fall. In the fall along with the reduced light and colder temperatures, we have the various trees displaying their vibrant colors. The leaves are a delight when they are in the tree but once on the ground, not so much. So why is today the day? It is because it’s change over day. In football, it’s a hand off, in track it’s the passing of the baton, in baseball it’s bringing in the relief pitcher or pinch hitter. Today is change over day for the slate colored junco to replace the hummingbird. Today we say goodbye to the spring arrivals and welcome the winter visitors. We enjoy them both.
