Dan Omo has won the Mary Reynolds Spirit of Clark Lake Award.  Dan received the honor at the Raft-O-Rama awards ceremony on Eagle Point today (Sunday).

The plaque is created each year by Mary Reynold’s daughter, Joey Reynolds Massangale.  According to Joey’s brother, Flip, their mother quietly found ways to make the lake a better place.  Clark Lake meant a lot to her.  Even in her last days, she continued to take part in the community, including Raft-O-Rama.  The award is decided upon by vote of the community with ballots available before Raft-O-Rama at local stores.

Dan Omo is a standout in his devotion to Clark Lake.  He is a co-chair of the Raft-O-Rama Committee and plays an important role on the Spirit Trail Committee.  But for Dan, it’s not just attending meetings.  You see him regularly rolling up sleeves in a variety of ways.  For example, he not only worked on putting together this year’s Raft-O-Rama, but was the emcee at the event.  You see him putting sweat equity into the Spirit Trail—mowing, landscaping, repairing and more recently, helping place new Spirit Trail benches in their permanent locations. When volunteers are needed for difficult work, Dan is known to be up for the challenge.

Last year’s winner was Rick Belcher.  Two years ago, Peggy Collins won the award.  Other past honorees include Peggy’s late husband Tom, Peggy’s son John, Bill Bendele, Bunty Adams, Louie & Michele Ambs, Bill Tuttle, Bev Avis, Loretto Baker, Don Fowler, R. Tucker Boyers, George Svinicki, Joanne Ambs, Ogden Adkins, John & Dotty Karkheck, Dick Cochran, Woody Newman, Ann Swain, Pat Dwyer, Jamie Mercer, Sam & Kathy Pease, Meredith Szostek, John Collins, and Evelyn Menard.
