By 2014 many Clark Lakers will tap into electricity from a new Consumers Energy substation. Consumers is in the midst of construction of this new substation at the west end of the lake adjacent to Lions Park at the end of Vining Street. Aptly named “West Clark Lake Substation” by Consumers, it will take some of the burden off of substations currently supply Clark Lake from Cement City and Brooklyn.

Consumers predicts increased reliability under the theory that the farther you are from a substation, the greater the possibility of an outage. The new substation will serve 1059 Consumer customers. In the beginning it will not operate at full capacity leaving room for future growth.
